The tide crashes against the boulders and cliffs of Acadia National Park, Maine.

Photography Tip: Find a strong colorful foreground. Gorgeous sunrises are great but you need something of real interest along the bottom edge of the frame to balance out the composition. This is especially true when shooting landscapes with wide-angle lenses. The wider the lens, the more critical the foreground.

I will be teaching a *Coastal Maine Photography Workshop* at the historic Spruce Point Inn Resort & Spa this fall. This photography workshop is centered on the sea and its endless photographic possibilities.

We will float from island to island in our own private motorboat each day while out photographing beautiful harbors, remote lighthouses, and working lobster boats. This is a terrific opportunity to improve your photography while enjoying the cuisine and hospitality of Maine’s finest resort.

David Marx Photography Seminar

Spruce Point Inn hosts Photographer David Marx for a five-day Coastal Maine Photography Seminar.

This October, photographers of all skill levels have the opportunity to learn from professional photographer instructor David Marx. Come join us for a five-day Coastal Maine Photography Seminar as we learn and photograph the iconic landscape of the Maine Mid-Coast.

Each day, David will instruct, and lead, our small group to carefully selected locations that highlight the unique beauty and character of the Maine Coast: Squirrel Island, Ram Island, Burnt Island Lighthouse, Pemaquid Point Light for a sunset shoot, and new this year is a full day on Monhegan Island. Spruce Point itself and the lobster boat docks of Boothbay Harbor feature prominently. Along the way, David Marx will discuss contemporary photography techniques and critique the seminar participants’ work.

Presented October 1 – 6, 2017, the Coastal Maine Photography Seminar Package includes five nights accommodations, all meals, seminar fees, daily transportation to the photography sites, use of all the Inn’s amenities including two swimming pools, Har-Tru tennis court, sea kayaks and bicycles.
